CASE FILE: THE ITALIAN WALKING PROGRAM

Mission Log

What began as a peaceful Sunday morning motorcycle ride quickly became an unscheduled roadside investigation.

The subject: a 1994 Ducati Monster.

The allegation: refusal to motorcycle.

Duck-9 arrived at the scene with a wrench, questionable optimism, and the rapidly fading belief that Italian engineering responds positively to encouragement.

The Discovery

The Ducati had been running.

Then it wasn't.

There was coughing. There was sputtering. There was coasting.

Eventually, there was silence—the kind of silence that makes a man stare at a motorcycle as though betrayal has just become mechanical.

Initial findings confirmed that the motorcycle was still beautiful.

Unfortunately, beauty was not among the components required for combustion.

The Investigation

Duck-9 began standard roadside procedures:

Check the obvious.

Check the less obvious.

Turn something with a wrench.

Stare at it.

Try again.

At one point, the Ducati returned to life, providing investigators with several glorious moments of false hope before promptly dying again.

This was determined to be emotionally unnecessary.

Feathered Thought

But somewhere between the tools, the roadside and wondering how far the walk home might be, the investigation uncovered something unexpected.

Life isn't about how far you get.

Things break.

Plans change.

You keep going.

Because sometimes the best you can do is enjoy the ride you're given.

And when the ride stops cooperating...
