CASE FILE #011

My Boss Told Me to Have a Good Day. So I Went Home.

Workplace Investigations

Short Description

Duck-9 receives a direct order from management and, for once, follows it exactly.

Mission Log

Duck-9 reported for duty prepared for another long day of deadlines, questionable assignments, and management decisions requiring further investigation.

Then his boss made one critical mistake.

He told Duck-9 to have a good day.

The Discovery

Most employees would interpret this as a pleasant workplace farewell.

Duck-9 interpreted it as an instruction.

There was only one problem: he was still at work.

The Investigation

Within seconds, Duck-9 abandoned his post, made for the elevator, and began implementing the only reasonable course of action.

His editor attempted to intervene.

“Where the hell are you going?!”

Duck-9 calmly reviewed the original directive:

“You told me to have a good day.”

The elevator doors began to close.

“So I’m going home.”

Feathered Thought

Management should choose its words carefully.

Some employees are listening.

Final Note

The editor later confirmed that it was approximately 9:00 in the morning.

Duck-9 maintains that no specific start time for the “good day” was provided.

REPORT FILED.
